SELECTIVE NON-CATALYTIC REDUCTION (SNCR)

As a responsible organization we want to reduce our environmental impacts through various projects. One of them is our selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) project to reduce NOx emissions generated by fuel combustion in the methanol reformer. QAFAC aimed to achieve this objective through a selective non-catalytic reduction technology offered by a renowned international technology supplier. The process involves injection of a 19% ammonia solution to the high temperature flue gas exiting from the methanol steam reformer. Ammonia injection will be monitored and controlled so as to keep ammonia slip within limits. Our SNCR system installation and commissioning had been completed in July, 2019 and we have successfully achieved required NOx limit. Above that, we will continue our efforts to reduce air emissions, in line with MME requirements and best industrial practices.
